In the second week of May 2026, a delegation from the Committee for Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, visited Latvia. As part of the visit, the delegation travelled to Jelgava, where they met with representatives of ASNS Ingredient and the company’s board member, Edgars Ruža.

In the second week of May 2026, a delegation from the Committee for Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, visited Latvia. As part of the visit, the delegation travelled to Jelgava, where they met with representatives of ASNS Ingredient and the company’s board member, Edgars Ruža.

Following a presentation at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, the delegation visited the construction site of the future ASNS Ingredient pea protein plant, where guests had the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the project’s development and the progress of construction works.

During the meeting, particular attention was devoted to the availability of peas as a raw material, workforce recruitment opportunities in the region, and sustainability aspects of the future production process. Representatives of the delegation showed great interest in the project, actively asked questions, and engaged in in-depth discussions about the future development prospects of the plant protein industry in Europe.

At the conclusion of the visit, Committee Chairwoman Dr. Peill presented symbolic greetings from North Rhine-Westphalia, thanking the hosts for the informative and inspiring reception.
